From our great event coordinator, Jennifer Hunter, comes this: “Enchanted Island is open from 4:30-8:30 on Friday.  Unlimited ride wristbands are $5.50 for the evening.  Anyone who enters between 5:00 and 7:00, buys a wristband, and mentions Khalsa, will have 30% of their wristband price donated to the school.  You only need to buy a wristband if you plan to ride on rides.  So parents can buy for their children, but don’t have to pay for themselves unless they want to ride.”

Fun trivia fact: did you know the carousel horses were repainted/restored by a Khalsa parent? True! Maggie Keane did the painstaking work years ago.

Again, excellent parent turn out.

Solicit for additional agenda items. It was suggested that we have a Khalsa Family Friday night at Enchanted Island. It is $3 a person. A good time had by all. A possibility and all that is needed would be the school tax ID number.

Fat Man’s Pass. About 100 Khalsa Parents and children showed up. A great time had by all.

Administration Report:

Satwant Singh Khalsa and Keerat Giordano.

Satwant mentions School Improvement Day at the Primary location. February 12th. Help is always appreciated. Satwant thanks Brian for the Fat Man’s Pass hike. He also acknowledges all the time and effort put into the Carnival. It is much appreciated. As parents, Satwant encourages us to ask the teachers what was purchased in the classroom due to the success of a great carnival. Not only does it bring everyone together, but it also helps all the children succeed in the classroom.

Lead Teacher Presentation: Upper Elementary Teachers, Lindsay Caglio and Karen Charleston. They present to us a cube. The idea being that Mathematics represents the real world. Every number is made up of component parts. The children are exposed to this cube in Primary, already getting a visual that later in Elementary will assist them in understanding the complexities of Mathematics. Something that most of us were not exposed too. Maria Montessori wanted the children to truly understand every component, not just on paper but as a real 3D visual.

Wristbands are now available for sale at the school office.$15. Buy now and save, as at the Carnival wristbands are $20. There will be the climbing wall, bungie wall and slides! and best of all the Cake Walk.

Sell your raffle tickets to family, friends and neighbours.

Donate to the auction and raffle.

Donate to the class gift baskets. An email was sent out with all the information. Again a great way to raise money for the classrooms.

Please review the PTO website as there are continual updates on the Carnival. It is a great tool to use.

Altogether the school collected $553 of creditable receipts. Add that to the $474 that our school volunteers earned for us during our shopping night and you get $1027.
